Flathead grey mullet

Belonging to the Mugilidae family, the flathead grey mullet is a fish with a cylindrical body, more compressed towards the tail and with an enlarged and flattened head. It has a slender body, with large scales, a short muzzle and a small mouth with upper and lower lips both with a row of small teeth. Its eyes are covered with a transparent membrane, called adipose eyelid, which is very evident in adult specimens. On the back, it has two yellowish fins, the first has four spiny rays. The back is grey, with blue and greenish reflections, while the sides have a more silver colour.
